Every year on March 17th, the world celebrates Saint Patrick’s Day.
Cities turn green. Parades fill the streets. People wear shamrocks and speak about the famous phrase:
“The luck of the Irish.”
For many, the day has become a symbol of fortune, the belief that some people simply stumble into good outcomes through chance.
But history tells a different story: Saint Patrick himself was not a man of luck. He was a man of resilience.
As a teenager, Patrick was kidnapped by pirates and taken to Ireland as a slave. For six years he survived harsh conditions, isolation, and uncertainty.
He didn’t escape because of luck.
He escaped because he stayed mentally strong, observant, and ready when opportunity finally appeared.
Later in life, he returned to Ireland, not with fear, but with purpose, bringing faith, discipline, and leadership to a land that once held him captive.
That story is not about luck. It’s about preparedness, conviction, and courage.
And those same principles apply today, especially for those who choose to carry responsibility every day.
